Africa-Press – Angola. Two national citizens, aged 32 and 43, were arrested by the Police authorities, on Wednesday (28), in the municipality of Luvo, in the province of Zaire, for alleged aiding illegal immigration.
According to the Department of Investigation of Criminal Offenses’ (DIIP) spokesperson, Chief Inspector Nicolau Modelo Garcia, who was speaking to the press at the presentation of the weekly crime report sheet, the suspects were caught escorting eight citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in an irregular immigration situation, in exchange for US$900 each.
He added that the aforementioned individuals were questioned and detained at the checkpoint in the village of Lolo, following a micro-operation involving officers from the Municipal Commands of the National Police in Mbanza Kongo and Luvo.
He specified that of the eight illegal immigrants from the DRC, six were women who were traveling camouflaged inside a trailered truck, which was heading to the country’s capital, Luanda.
