Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Uíge will host, this Tuesday, the central act of the celebrations of the 4th of February, the day of the beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, which will be presided over by the Minister of State and head of the military house of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado.

In addition to the political act, the activity program, includes the laying of a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, by the governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, who will inaugurate, in the municipality of Negage, a school and a medical center.

The program, which takes place under the motto “with the spirit of February, let us work for stability, development and employment”, has a message for former combatants and veterans of the country, a women’s parade, a visit to the agricultural fair and cultural moments.

On February 4th, Angolans celebrate the beginning of the Armed Struggle, which culminated in the proclamation of Angola’s Independence, on November 11th, 1975.

This is a very important date for reflection, as it symbolizes a historical moment of great relevance for the country. On February 4, 1961, a group of fearless Angolans rose up against the colonialist regime.

They began with attacks against the São Paulo prisons, in Luanda, where nationalist prisoners were held, and together they continued, through Angola, in the fight against Portuguese colonial oppression.
