Under-23: Gilberto risks FAF punishment

Africa-Press – Angola. The striker Gilberto, from Petro de Luanda, may be punished by the FAF, due to the absence, without justification, of the work of the National Under-23 Team, it was learned, this Tuesday, from José Carlos, vice-president of the governing body of football in the country.

Despite being called up by coach Miller Gomes, the player failed to concentrate and play the first leg, played last Saturday, at Estádio 11 de Novembro, and remains absent from the preparation work, aiming for the match next Sunday, in Yaoundé. .

In reaction to Gilberto’s absence, FAF vice-president José Carlos clarified that Petro de Luanda understood that it should not dismiss the player, when it should request the postponement of his championship game, depending on the number of athletes assigned to the selection.

“I could have done like 1o de Agosto did. Petro understood that he had to postpone the entire journey. Our Girabola did not start in time, because the clubs did not license in due course and we are in the final adjustments of the universal calendar. does not have large margins to move journeys”, he said.

José Carlos considers that the FAF regulations are strict for players who are absent from the national team’s call-up, having admitted that the Petro striker “runs the risk of being prevented from playing in certain games”, and managers and clubs should also be subject to sanctions that do not facilitate the presence of athletes in the national team calls.

“The Selections Department forwarded the official information to the Disciplinary Board and, as far as we know, they are already working on the issue.”
