The trade unionist and member of the Executive Secretariat of the Union of Unions of Huambo, Elisabeth Cahombo, yesterday appealed to political parties to be guided by moderate speeches, striving for concord and harmony and that translate into the preservation of peace during election campaigns.
The official spoke on Thursday at the plenary meeting, which brought together more than 50 unions based in the province, under the motto “The Unions and the Elections”, stressing that the moment requires that political parties observe civic and urban behavior. before, during and after elections.
Elisabeth Cahombo explained that it is an important duty for each union member to feel like an electoral activist, in order to fulfill their patriotic duty and participate en masse, contributing to the construction of a truly democratic and united country, respecting the human person throughout the fullness.
The official said that currently the political, economic and social conditions in the country demand from the unions a dignified, reflective and responsible position, taking into account the changes that are being experienced in the different sectors of society. She said that workers are producers and creators of wealth, they do not participate in public management, nor in opinions on some laws.
The leader said that it is the orientation of the central structures of the unions in Angola to promote lectures and actions that elevate citizens to the party of democracy, with the aim of defending the rights and labor interests of the working class, regardless of colors, religious beliefs, among others. .
Elias Matete Sunguete, one of the speakers at the lecture, said that it is the task of trade unionists to sensitize citizens to participate in the party of democracy. “The moments that follow are reserved for the common sense of politicians, with speeches that promote peace among Angolans”, he reinforced.
