Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Adalberto Costa Júnior, and the president of the Democratic Bloc (BD), Filomeno Vieira Lopes, regretted the decision of the Angolan Renaissance Party (PRA-JA Servir Angola) to unilaterally withdraw from the United Patriotic Front (FPU) platform and suspend the signed agreements.
Adalberto Costa Júnior, general coordinator of the FPU, and Filomeno Vieira Lopes, deputy general coordinator, met on Wednesday to analyze the political situation of the country, as well as of the FPU, following the decision of the of PRA-JA party.
The decision of PRA-JA to leave the FPU and proceed to the electoral process without any coalition was taken on Wednesday at the party’s first congress, held from the 19th to the 21st of this month, in Luanda, which elected Abel Epalanga Chivukuvuku as its president.
The announcement was made at the end of the event by Abel Chivukuvuku, who did not rule out the possibility of negotiations with other political parties.
At the time, he stated that the party is ready to act alone, but it is open to negotiations and that this position was taken due to the challenges faced during the process of creating the party.
However, in a statement on Friday, Adalberto Costa Júnior and Filomeno Vieira Lopes congratulated the holding of the Constitutive Congress of PRA-JA Servir Angola.
The party was made official in October 2024 by the Constitutional Court (TC) and at the time was a member of the FPU, a platform created six months before the 2022 general elections with UNITA and the Democratic Bloc (BD).
