The Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Altino dos Santos, has been since early Wednesday morning in Lunda Norte province to assess the level of readiness and combat preparedness of the troops , as well as the organization and functioning of units in the northeast military region.
Speaking to the press at the end of a courtesy meeting with the governor of Lunda Norte, Filomena Miza, the head of the General Staff’s main Patriotic Education Directorate, António Fernandes, said that the CEMG’s visit also aims to ensure that the FAA is able to fulfill its missions, including national defense and combating threats.
“We have the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a neighboring country, which inspires some caution, and we have been implementing some measures to ensure the protection of our borders and the sovereignty of our country, and this visit aims to ascertain the combat readiness of the soldiers,” he stressed.
During his stay in Lunda Norte, Altino dos Santos will visit some infrastructure and maintain contact with the forces.
In Lunda Norte, there is the 52nd Infantry Brigade of the Angolan Armed Forces, commanded by Colonel Manuel dos Anjos.
Previously, the Chief of Staff visited Lunda-Sul with the same objectives, which, together with Lunda-Norte, make up the northeast military region.
The assessment of troop readiness, in the context of the Angolan Armed Forces, involves determining the degree of a military unit’s ability to fulfill its missions and responsibilities, covering aspects such as personnel preparation, equipment status, training, and infrastructure conditions.
