Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA defended, this Monday, in Luena, the implementation of the rehabilitation program for structural roads in the province of Moxico, with a view to facilitating the mobility of citizens and stimulating commerce.

This political formation, through a document produced at the III Ordinary Meeting of the Provincial Committee of Moxico, chaired by the secretary, Afonso Ndumba, reiterated the need for the Government to build roads to guarantee the movement of people and goods, which move mainly to the coast from the country.

UNITA also defended the creation of feasible policies that allow the reduction of the level of unemployment in the population and the high cost of living, marked by the successive inflation of basic necessities.

In the same vein, UNITA called for transparency in the management of the treasury and better supervision of public services, with a view to improving the living conditions of the population.

Recently, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos dos Santos, said that around 420 kilometers of road construction work, of the 1,020 approved for the province of Moxico by 2027, has already begun.

The leader was speaking to the press, in Luau, after observing the progress of works on the 156-kilometer section between the municipalities of Luau/Luacano and Cameia, along the National Road (EN250), which began last October, under the auspices of the company AFAVIAS.

On the occasion, the minister said that of the structural roads approved for the province, construction is underway on the Marco25 (Luau)/Cazombo section, in the municipality of Alto-Zambeze, with 192 km, in addition to the referenced Luau/Luacano/Cameia.

Regarding other remaining sections, he said that technical and administrative conditions are being prepared to begin paving the Cameia/Léua and Luena route and subsequently the Luena/Munhango section, with a view to connecting with the neighboring province of Bié, connecting the eastern and southern regions of the country.

Moxico is a province made up of the main municipalities (Moxico), Camanongue, Léua, Cameia, Luacano, Luau, Alto-Zambeze, Bundas and Luchazes, it is inhabited by more than one million people, of which 506 thousand 837 are women, of according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE).
