Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA, in Benguela, recognizes that there is more investment in the Education and Health sectors, and encourages the Executive to continue with the projects, especially in the areas of staff training, aiming at the development of the country and the province, in particular.
The recognition was expressed by the provincial secretary of the “black rooster” party in Benguela, Avelino Canjamba José, during the press conference presenting the vision on the political and social situation of the country.
“It is essential to have more investment in the Health and Education sectors”, stated the UNITA politician, highlighting the Academic sector in particular, justifying that it represents an essential component to accelerate the training of staff in the most diverse areas.
The party leader also said that only with capable staff will it be possible to quickly promote the development of communities and, in the same way, respond to the political, economic and social challenges that are currently being faced.
The politician highlighted the fact that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in his State of the Nation speech, presented data on the attention that has been paid to the Education sector, in relation to the distribution of school textbooks, although suggesting that much more should be done.
UNITA, said Avelino Canjamba José, considered Education a key and preponderant sector to leverage the multifaceted development index, highlighting the importance of periodically making more investments, in order to meet the expectations of an ever-increasing number of young people.
Basic basket
The politician stressed that, within the scope of the Programme to Combat Hunger and Poverty, UNITA is monitoring, with concern, the price of the basic food basket, which still affects the majority of the population, despite the efforts undertaken by the local Executive.
The punctual monitoring of cooperatives and peasant associations, in promoting family farming, suggested the provincial secretary of the “black rooster”, is also one of the mechanisms to change the situation.
Avelino Canjamba José also defended the reinforcement of the distribution of agricultural inputs to cooperatives and peasant associations, aiming at increasing food production on a large scale.
The politician also revealed that UNITA, in Benguela, considered the extension of the period of the General Population and Housing Census to be “strategic”.
