Unita reiterates commitment to peace

Africa-Press – Angola. Unita reaffirmed Saturday, in Lubango, its commitment to continue working with the government and civil society, in favor of maintaining peace and consolidating the democratic state and the rule of law.

One of the party’s bets has to do with preserving citizenship, as well as persuading the State to carry out local municipal elections, as announced by the provincial secretary of Unita, in Huíla, Augusto Samuel.

Speaking at the mass political act within the framework of the March 13 festivities, which marks the date of the foundation of Unita, under the motto “Unita 57 years for an independent, democratic and developed Angola”, he stated that Unita is committed to continuing to cooperate in the economic, social and cultural growth of the country.

He considered that a country without democracy is a troubled country, and Angola has been setting an example of peace and democracy, as well as the appreciation of human rights, where the dialogue between Unita and the party in power is one of the great measures that is being done for the good of all.

On the occasion, he appealed to the militants of the party he leads to adopt an inalienable conduct that will surely contribute to the development of actions aimed at improving the quality of life of every Angolan in the country.

In the chapter on local authorities, he also defended the urgent need for it to be carried out and asked to “leave the new political-administrative division to the background”.

Regarding the historical path of the party, he considered it positive in that, with each passing year, it has been reorganized, although it still lacks more stability.

The mass act that brought together more than five thousand militants took place in the old João de Almeida market, on the outskirts of the city of Lubango.
