Africa-Press – Angola. The UNITA party voted in favor of the proposal by the Board of Directors of the National Assembly, which updates the installation and end-of-term allowances of deputies to the National Assembly.
The announcement was made this Thursday by the chairman of the UNITA Parliamentary Group, Liberty Chiyaka, who, however, considered the respective amount attributed to parliamentarians to cover expenses inherent to social responsibilities to be “insufficient”.
The installation subsidy for deputies to the National Assembly (AN) recently increased from 11 million, two hundred thousand kwanzas to 22 million, five hundred thousand kwanzas.
Speaking at a press conference, the deputy said that the referred values are also insufficient for the fulfillment of the mandate, through deputations with the voters, in all the municipalities of the country.
Liberty Chiyaka also informed that UNITA will pass on 50 percent of its deputies’ installation and end-of-term subsidy to society, channeling it to social issues.
As part of the initiative, Liberty Chiyaka said that spaces and social institutions, such as schools and hospitals, which will deserve the party’s attention, have been identified in the country’s 164 municipalities.
Recently published in the Diário da República no 118, 1st Series of 28 June 2023, resolutions no 13/23 and 14/23 which aim to update the value of installation and end-of-term subsidies.
This update is based on Law No. 17/12 of 16 May – “Organic Law on the Statute of Deputies” and Law No. 6/08 of 4 July – “Organic Law on the Remuneration Statute of Deputies”.
The installation and end-of-term allowances are paid once in the Legislature, being delivered at the beginning of the term, to deputies who take office, and at the end of the term, to deputies who definitively cease their functions.
