The plan to create incubators in Higher Education Institutions (IES), launched on Friday (18), in Luanda, will facilitate entrepreneurship in academies, transform research into products and promote the creation of new companies, said the secretary. of State for Science, Technology and Innovation.
Domingos da Silva Neto explained that, in meeting the employment situation in traditional businesses, it is essential to create the conditions to stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation, as a way of not only responding to the subsistence needs of young people, but to transform problems into thriving business and employment opportunities.
The Secretary of State, speaking about the project, which is carried out in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), stressed that the Strategic Plan will serve as a guide for university incubators in HEIs and ensure their integrated functioning.
The UNDP/Angola representative and head of the Inclusive Growth Unit and Acceleration Laboratory Team, José Félix, informed that the areas of intervention of the University Incubators are the Education, Health, Agriculture and Fisheries, Resources, Environment and Sustainability sectors.
José Félix said that the incubators in the provinces of Cabinda and Huíla will focus on the areas of Agro-technology, as they are linked to the Agriculture sector.
To complete the studies presented on the Strategic Plan for the Creation of Incubators in Universities, the UNDP provided funding, essentially equipment, to boost the project in Cabinda and Huíla.
The UNDP representative in the country said that, when looking at Higher Education issues, it was concluded that there was a need to link university teaching and research to incubators, to also extend to communities to attract the private sector. and investors.
