The Vice-Governor of Cuanza-Norte for the Technical and Infrastructure sector, Michel Luzolo, urged states this Wednesday in Ndalatando to engage in permanent reflection on the influence of human rights in promoting social harmony, preventing conflicts, and other ills that undermine good relations between peoples.
Michel Luzolo, speaking at the provincial event commemorating the 77th anniversary of International Human Rights Day, considered respect for human dignity as the foundation for building a just, democratic, and peaceful society.
She stated that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights remains the main international reference for the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights and the regulation of relations between peoples.
In turn, the Justice Delegate and coordinator of the Provincial Human Rights Commission, Delfina Cabulombo, considered the date, celebrated this year under the motto “the essentials of each day,” as a relevant moment coinciding with the commemorations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.For Delfina Cabulombo, the anniversary is a special date for renewing the collective commitment to the dignity of the human person, justice, and equality among citizens.
She advocated for the involvement of the entire society in transforming human rights into daily practice, through the adoption of fairer public and social policies, promoting citizenship and combating all forms of discrimination and social injustice.
Reverend Lúcio Marques pointed to the promotion of solidarity, love for one’s neighbor, respect for public property, equality, and fraternity as essential attitudes for the continued promotion of human rights.
Participants in the event, held at the Ndalatando Higher Polytechnic Institute, included representatives of the Provincial Government, magistrates, representatives of social organizations, traditional authorities, and students.
International Human Rights Day was established by the United Nations on December 10, 1948, with the approval of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
