Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-Governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Uíge, Sónia Arlete Domingos, asked, this Friday, for greater collaboration from the church in raising awareness among women to invest more in family farming.

Women’s commitment to family farming guarantees the livelihood of their families, as well as the training of their children, explained the person responsible at the opening of the March Women’s provincial day, opened today in the diocese of Uíge.

He said that the local government’s concerns include the creation and improvement of policies for the inclusion of women in social life.

The activity was preceded by a mass, led by Father Alberto Canda. During the homily, the prelate condemned acts of domestic violence, sexual abuse, abandonment of homes, among other evils that plague society.

In turn, the provincial director of the former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, Maria Odete Ferreira, who gave a lecture on the “Role of women in preserving peace, in the family and in the community”, said that women have always fought alongside the man during the liberation period of Angola.

According to the program, the March Woman journey, which runs until March 31st, aims to establish the achievements achieved by women in the face of the challenges of globalization, honor women as symbols of resilience, pride and firmness, encourage young girls to invest , promote broad awareness of women’s active participation in the formal economy, among other challenges.
