Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, will lead this Thursday, in Luanda, the 2nd Ordinary Session of the Multisectoral Commission for the Implementation of the Girls’ Empowerment and Learning for All Project (PAT II).
Created on June 30, 2023, by Presidential Order, the commission is coordinated by the Vice-President of the Republic, its deputy coordinator is the Minister of Education and includes several ministers, the Secretary for Social Affairs of the President of the Republic and economic advisors. and social security of the Vice-President of the Republic.
The commission is responsible, among other duties, for enforcing the general strategic orientation of PAT II, proposing the preparation of technical studies, reports and balance sheets on its validity and monitoring and scrupulous compliance with the three structuring components of PAT II, namely “Empower Angolan girls”, “Reducing learning poverty in Angola” and “Project management, monitoring and evaluation”.
At the 1st meeting, last July, the committee members assessed the Progress Report of the Girls’ Empowerment and Learning for All Project (PAT II), reviewed the PAT II Action Plan for 2023, and analyzed the Mapping of Public Schools in Angola, as well as the Proposal to create a Technical Group of the Multisectoral Commission.
In relation to the Progress Report, the status of the project components was analyzed, and the status of the “Empowering Angolan adolescents” component, which aims to improve access to health and environmental services and information for adolescents, with an emphasis on girls, with a view to providing them with life skills, keeping them in school.
