Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, reopened, this Tuesday, in Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, the cultural center Comandante Bula, which benefited from rehabilitation, expansion and refurbishment works.

The works to improve this infrastructure, budgeted at USD 3 million and 500 thousand, were financed by the company Angola-LNG and were in charge of the company MEME-Angola.

The works of this imposing enterprise lasted seven months.

The infrastructure has a multipurpose auditorium with a capacity for 408 seats, an adjacent multipurpose hall with 60 seats, an outdoor sports court with 1,500 benches, VIP tribune, changing rooms for athletes of both sexes, sanitary facilities, for bar and storage services, among other facilities.

Addressing those present in the auditorium of the aforementioned cultural centre, the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, praised the fruitful partnership between the Provincial Government and the company Angola-LNG, which allowed for the rehabilitation, expansion, equipping and modernization of the property .

According to Esperança da Costa, the works of the Comandante Bula Cultural Center remain, forever, in the conscience of the population of Zaire, as a result of the strategic policy of the Executive in the diversification of products and cultural initiatives and for the promotion of the practice of sports within the youth.

Esperança da Costa added that the various compartments will promote cultural and recreational activities, as well as arts, history and the entire cultural heritage.

For Esperança da Costa, the local youth always want to have a center of this magnitude that can effectively unite cultural activities of a recreational, reflective and innovative nature, and also for the practice of indoor sports, such as futsal, basketball, volleyball and handball.

For the Vice-President of the Republic, the infrastructure will serve as support for the periodic holding, in Mbanza Kongo, of the Kongo International Culture Festival (FESTIKONGO), one of UNESCO’s recommendations when inscribing this historic site on the list of Cultural Heritage of Humanity, on July 8, 2017.

He appealed to local youth to know how to make the most of this centre, developing activities aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among other socially useful activities.

The program for the visit of the Vice-President of the Republic reserves, for Wednesday, the last day of her 48-hour journey to the region, a trip to the Nkiende commune, which is 32 kilometers from the city of Mbanza Kongo, to verify the degree execution of works on the new local airport.

Beforehand, Esperança da Costa should find out about the work on the General Hospital of Zaire, with a capacity of 300 beds.
