Africa-Press – Angola. The Vietnamese Head of State, Luong Cuong, invited on Thursday (07,) in Luanda, the Speaker of the Angola National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, to visit his country, with a view to strengthening parliamentary ties.
The invitation was made during the Vietnamese President’s address at the formal session in Parliament honoring his visit to Angola.
Luong Cuong expressed his appreciation for the welcome and expressed his desire to strengthen ties and promote comprehensive cooperation with Angola.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Govt, the National Assembly, and the Angolan people for always supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, work, and contribute to the development of Angola,” he said.
He praised the mutual efforts and resilience of the countries in their struggle for independence.
According to the statesman, given the profound transformations in the international context, it is important to strengthen sociability and elevate traditional friendship to a new level.
President Luong Cuong also reiterated his country’s support for Angola’s initiatives in its presidency of the African Union to promote peace and security on the continent.
Parliamentary cooperation was also mentioned by the leader of the Angolan parliament, Carolina Cerqueira, who highlighted in her speech the essential role of the Angola-Vietnam Friendship Group within the framework of national assemblies.
The group is responsible for strengthening relations between the two parliamentary institutions, promoting the exchange of legislative experiences, and fostering joint initiatives that strengthen bonds of friendship and cooperation.
