Africa-Press – Angola. The first visit abroad by the new President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, and the first by an Estonian statesman, in this case, Alar Karis, to Angola, constituted the highlights of this week’s political news.

Nangolo Mbumba, from Namibia, and Alar Karis, from Estonia, were on official visits for 48 hours, during which they met with their Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, to reinforce bilateral cooperation.

Last week, the Angolan Head of State met with the American ambassador, Tulinabo Mushingi, with whom he also spoke about issues relating to cooperation.

João Lourenço received, at the end of an audience, guarantees of support for government initiatives in favor of development from the bishop of the “Good Shepherd” Anglican church, Filomena das Neves Estevão.

The participation of the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, in the World Summit of Presidents of Parliaments held in Paris, France, also gained space in the national political news, during which she highlighted that the benefits of peace in Angola can serve as an example for the world.

Speaking at the opening, he said that peace offers opportunities for equality, equity for women, the promotion of their rights and their inclusion in political decision-making processes.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Angolan parliamentary leader held a meeting with her French counterpart, Yael Braun-Pivet, with whom she discussed bilateral cooperation in the parliamentary field.

This week the National Assembly held a workshop on parliamentary ethics and decorum.

At the opening, the 1st vice-president of the National Assembly, Américo Cunonoca, advocated the need for deputies to honor and dignify their role and mandate, observing the principles of ethics and decorum in the exercise of parliamentary democracy to strengthen national unity and cohesion.

This week, the “Organic Law project on the Effective Institutionalization of Local Authorities”, presented by the UNITA Parliamentary Group (GPU), also featured in the news.

According to the leader of the GPU, Liberty Chiaka, at a press conference, the document will be distributed to society to collect contributions for 30 days, in all provinces of the country.
