Africa-Press – Angola. The Russian ambassador to Angola highlighted the important legacy of the former Head of State on the fifth day of National Mourning.
The Russian ambassador to Angola, Vladimir Tararov, highlighted the legacy of José Eduardo dos Santos with regard to the friendship and brotherhood of the former Soviet Union with the country, as well as cooperation with that region after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
“José Eduardo dos Santos is a true peacemaker in Angola, who managed to achieve not only national reconciliation, but also peace, because he won the civil war and against foreign invasion. This greatly favored the liberation of other countries, such as example Namibia”, he stressed in statements.
The Russian diplomat was speaking on the sidelines of the tributes that the diplomatic corps accredited to Angola paid at Praça da República, in Luanda, to the figure of the former Angolan statesman, José Eduardo dos Santos, who died on 8th of this month, in Barcelona, Spain.
