Africa-Press – Angola. At least 100 poor families in the municipality of Caconda, Huíla province, benefited from food support, as part of a program by the municipal directorate of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, to minimize extreme need.

The basic food baskets were delivered to households in the communes of Caconda, Cusse, Gungui and Waba, prioritizing families headed by women.

Among the products given, on Tuesday, by the director, Rosária Afonso, are bags of maize meal, beans and cooking oil, the result of a donation from a private company called Ovakaino.

For director Rosaria Afonso, the amount delivered is insufficient for current needs, but they help to alleviate the shortage, so other resources are being mobilized to make the action regular.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, former soldier Paulino Alfredo, was pleased to receive the goods, appealing to the need to empower families with means of production.

The municipality of Caconda is 230 kilometers north of Lubango and has an estimated population of over 200,000 inhabitants.
