Africa-Press – Angola. The outgoing secretary-general of the Union of Angolan Writers (UEA), David Capelenguela, is the only candidate for his succession, in a list that has as novelty the writer Lopito Feijóo to run for the post of chairman of the board of the assembly to replace Luís Kandjimbo.

David Capelenguela, who is now ending a three-year term, found the time at the head of the UEA very difficult, especially in recent years, due to the pandemic. In the aftermath of the three years, highlights, among the accomplishments, the realization of 70 editions of the project “Maka à Quarta-feira” and the promotion of Angolan literature abroad.

“We managed to sign an agreement with TV Zimbo, to bring the ‘Maka à Quarta-feira’ project to television. The partnership is still going on and it’s a win. In addition, we managed to sign a contract with Imprensa Nacional for the edition of 20 titles, in which the first ten books are already in the second editing phase”, he said.

The electoral campaign period of the single list, qualified for the candidacy of the management body of the Union of Angolan Writers, opened on the 18th of April, ends this Thursday, the 5th of May. The election takes place on Saturday, May 7th.

Lawyer by profession, with a degree and master’s degree in Law, David Capelenguela is a member of the UEA and one of the co-founders of the Brigada Jovem de Literatura do Namibe. His fields of interest extend to literature in general and he has on the market the books “Véu do Vento”, “Gravuras Doutro Sentido” and “Acordanua”.
