Africa-Press – Angola. Eighteen young people from the municipality of Longonjo, Huambo province, received, this Thursday, professional cooking, pastry, tailoring and hairdressing kits, distributed by the local administrator, Wilne Ekukui, as part of the anti-poverty program.
The equipment aims to promote self-employment and empowerment of women and young people in the municipality of Longonjo, in the western corridors of Huambo province.
On the occasion, the administrator of Longonjo, Wilne Ekuikui, said that the distribution of kits for egg production is planned to be distributed soon, essentially to women, at a time when the pilot experience of this sustainability program for vulnerable families is already underway.
With this initiative, he explained, the aim is to respond to the efforts of the Angolan Executive aimed at combating poverty, which involves improving the living conditions of rural families.
He called on the beneficiaries to correctly apply the means made available, so as to correspond to the objectives for which they were acquired by the Angolan Government.
He recalled that, in addition to the program to combat poverty, the municipality of Longonjo also has sustainability projects for the needy population, such as that of the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA) and the governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, this last, called “Votoka a Mãe Zungueira”, an expression in the Umbundu national language that means “Get up, Mãe Zungueira”.
The municipality of Longonjo, with more than 91 inhabitants, the majority of whom are peasants and small traders, spread across the municipalities of Catabola, Chilita, Lepi and Sede, is located 64 kilometers west of the city of Huambo.
