Africa-Press – Angola. The leaders of youth associations and organizations in Cunene province were exhorted Wednesday, in Ondjiva, to promote social and community development and the preservation of peace.
The challenge came from the director of the provincial office for Culture, Tourism and Youth and Sports in Cunene, Nelson Ndemulikuata, at the opening act of training on leadership and associative management.
On the occasion, he said that associations and organizations should work harder and instill in young people a patriotic spirit for social and community development, to safeguard justice and democracy.
“Young people play a decisive role, so they must be the main promoters and agents of the country’s development, aligned with exemplary conduct and fulfilling their duties and obligations”, he stressed.
On the other hand, he advised them to preserve public goods and make the correct use of social networks, with the aim of not tarnishing the good name of leaders and institutions.
He also highlighted the importance of training as it will provide participants with competence in leadership and associative management, as well as reinforce the levels of organization of political and social intervention.
Nelson Ndemulikuata underlined that the Executive has been creating policies for young people, such as the delivery of professional kits for job creation, within the scope of the Action Plan for the Promotion of Employability (PAPE).
During the three-day training, leaders of youth associations and organizations will address issues of leadership in service, effective communication and advocacy in leadership, and how to develop competency in decision-making.
The Provincial Youth Council in Cunene controls 41 associations, to which 7,000 young people are affiliated.
