Africa-Press – Angola. A lecture on the famous Battle of Cuito Cuanavale was held at the University of the Armed Forces of Zimbabwe, which brought together military students from Southern African countries.

The lecture, held within the framework of the celebration alluding to the 35th anniversary of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale and the 5th of its institutionalization as “Day of the Liberation of Southern Africa”, was led by the National Director for Preservation of the Military-Historical Legacy of the Ministry of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland of Zimbabwe, Zangui Longa.

According to a press note released by Angop, the act, held Thursday, was attended by senior officials of the Zimbabwean Army, namely the board of directors of that university, the inspector general of the Armed Forces of Zimbabwe and the Defense attaché. at the Angolan Embassy in that country, Colonel Paulo Dala.

Still following the activities of this important event, a documentary was presented on the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, which had diplomats accredited in Zimbabwe, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, high ranking members of the Armed Forces of Zimbabwe, Defense attachés from different countries and the Angolan community residing in that country.

Relations between Angola and Zimbabwe date back to the National Liberation Struggle of both countries.
