Africa-Press – Botswana. On November 11, Ambassador Fan Yong and Hon. Tiroeaone Ntsima, Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, attended the Entrepreneurs Forum in Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Botswana. The forum was hosted by the Embassy, in collaboration with Chinese Enterprises Association in Botswana and Botswana Chinese General Chamber of Commerce.

Nearly 100 people attended the forum, including Assistant Minister Hon. Baratiwa Mathoothe, Mr Joel Duke Ramaphoi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Lan Yuqiang, Economic and Commercial Counselor of Chinese Embassy, representatives from Business Botswana, Chinese and Botswana enterprises, and the Chinese communities.Ambassador Fan briefed the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He stated that the 15th Five-Year Plan charts the course for China’s development in the next five years and will bring more opportunities for China-Botswana cooperation. Noting this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana, Ambassador Fan said the Chinese Embassy will continue to work hand-in-hand with the Botswana side to enhance friendly exchanges between the business communities of both countries, with the aim to support Botswana in advancing its goals of BETP and NDP12, thereby further deepening the China-Botswana strategic partnership.

Minister Ntsima expressed gratitude for the valuable support provided by China to Botswana’s economic and social development. He stated that the past 50 years have witnessed a profound friendship and close economic and trade ties between the two countries, with fruitful outcomes in areas such as digital transformation, infrastructure construction, and human resources. Minister conveyed Botswana’s willingness to further consolidate and develop bilateral relations with China and deepen practical cooperation.
