Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana National Front (BNF) has elected its new leadership at its elective congress and 60th anniversary celebration in Palapye.

While the party retained President Advocate Duma Boko as its president, Mr Moeti Mohwasa emerged as the new vice president with 1,144 votes defeating Nelson Ramaotwana who managed 840 votes.

In other key positions, the BNF congress elected Mr Moses Bantsi to the party chairperson position garnering 1,091 votes against Mr Tabona Masole’s 892 votes. Dr Stephen Modise won the secretary general with 1,056 votes defeating Mr Ketlhalefile Motshegwa who got 954 votes.

Mr Shawn Nthaile was elected deputy secretary general with 1,062 votes against Mr Joran Matomela who received 905 votes. Mr Arafat Khan was voted as the treasurer with 1,003 votes, defeating Mr Letlhogonolo Barongwang with 977 votes.

Other positions contested for included the organising secretary where Mr Johannes Motsamai got 1,215 votes defeating Mr Corporal Kekgatlhegile who got 761 votes. For the information and publicity position, Mr Carter Joseph managed to get 1,051 votes against Mr Rapula Mokotedi who was voted by 937 people.

For political education Mr Mompati Seleka got 1,032 votes against Jack Kelesitse who garnered 949. Mr Happy Bashe was elected for the position of health and social welfare with 1,021 votes defeating Ms Joyce Medupe who got 939 votes. Mr Bakang Lesole got 1,047 votes for the position of international affairs defeating Mr Moses Samson who got 958.

Mr Lasten Modo got 975 votes for labour affairs positions beating Mr Shane Kebadile who got 964 votes and in the economic affairs position Dr Moss Mokgolele was voted by 991 people defeating Mr Moses Chimbombi who got 985 votes.
