Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana has submitted its AFCON 2027 bid book to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo on Tuesday which was the deadline.

The bid committee chairperson, Ashford Mamelodi said they sent the bid book electronically, via courier and printing and physically submitting it in Cairo.

Mamelodi commended Botswana Football Association (BFA) CEO, Mfolo Mfolo for assisting them.

He said they also got confirmation from CAF that the bid had been received and that a receipt was also issued to them.

He added that they were satisfied that they had mounted a compelling campaign to host Africa’s biggest football spectacle. Mamelodi said they intended to engage the private sector and lobby them to come on board. Should the bid be successfull, he said the private would be particularly critical if they were successful in their bid.

He added that he would continue to lobby for the country during the COSAFA general assembly which takes place in Johannesburg tomorrow.

He noted that COSAFA had five members in the CAF exco, including the BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti.
