FIFA delegation concludes BFA visit

Africa-Press – Botswana. A delegation from the world soccer governing body, FIFA has concluded its brief tour to the country where it met senior Botswana Football Association (BFA) officials over the misuse of funds.

The BFA reportedly diverted more than P6million of FIFA funds for the women’s projects and COVID-19 relief funds.

The FIFA delegation arrived in the country on Friday for the investigations. Sources at Lekidi have told Mmegi Sport that among those interviewed were the BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti and suspended chief executive officer, Goabaone Taylor.

The interviews started on Saturday and were completed on Tuesday afternoon.

The association’s former finance manager Thabo Kebotsamang as well the legal officer Pako Moakofi were also interviewed. The FIFA delegation came at the invitation of Letshwiti, who suspended the CEO after the issue came to light.

However, there is a feeling Taylor is being made the scapegoat.
