Africa-Press – Botswana. General Mpho Churchill Mophuting, the newly appointed Commander of the Botswana Defence Force, has commenced his meet-and-greet sessions with members across the Force, signaling a direct approach to leadership and engagement.

In recent days, General Mophuting visited Glen Valley Barracks, Thebephatshwa Air Base, and Sir Seretse Khama Barracks. He addressed officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and non-uniformed personnel, emphasizing his vision for the BDF under his command.

During these sessions, he introduced the foundation of his Command Climate, guided by five strategic priorities:

Strengthening Command Structures and Leadership Principles

Reaffirming discipline, accountability, and professionalism at all levels of command.

Modernising and Expanding Defence Capabilities

Ensuring the Force remains agile, well-equipped, and capable of addressing evolving security challenges.

Reforming and Implementing the Military Justice System

Enhancing fairness, transparency, and efficiency in administering military justice.

Developing and Implementing a Coherent Strategy and Doctrine

Establishing actionable policies to guide operations and long-term planning.

Controlling Escalating Operational Costs

Promoting efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and responsible resource management.

General Mophuting stressed his commitment to a unified, mission-focused, and modern Defence Force that safeguards Botswana’s peace and security. He highlighted the importance of listening to personnel, boosting morale, and aligning the Force with strategic objectives.

The ongoing engagements reflect a leadership approach that prioritizes direct communication, operational readiness, and a clear strategic vision for the Botswana Defence Force.
