Africa-Press – Botswana. Reverend Dr Johannes Kgwarapi has helped grow Christianity movement in Botswana and his evangelism spirit has spread wings in all corners of the country, and as such government recognises his long and selfless service.
Speaking on Saturday during a service to honour the Kwarapis as they retire after serving for 46 years at Apostolic Faith Mission church in Botswana Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Ms Annah Mokgethi thanked Reverend Kgwarapi for availing himself for national duties
That, she said has not only given people hope but had helped Botswana be what it is today.
She said government had used AFM church in many occasions during Botswana Examination Council marking season.
Ms Mokgethi commended the Reverend for his work, noting the state-of-the-art church building of the AFM Block 7 church where he had been a Pastor for many years and for also making sure that the church spread wings to other areas in Botswana.
“I am told that the church also has a day care centre and it has been running for years now, I applaud Moruti Kgwarapi for promoting early childhood education,” she said
She expressed hope that the church would also build a primary school one day. She said many people could learn a lot from Reverent Kgwarapi who with his humble character and wisdom had left a legacy in Botswana.
Sharing their journey, Pastor’s wife, Mrs Goratwang Kgwarapi thanked God for giving her a husband dedicated to serve Him and also one who taught her a life of integrity, the fear of the Lord and had displayed passion towards the people of God.
She said they got married in 1977 and started ministering at AFM Francistown as a young married couple.
“Times were hard and we baked scones so that the Pastor received his monthly salary which was P90 “She said. She thanked people of Francistown for the love and dedication during those difficult times.
Ms Kgwarapi thanked Batswana for the support and love they had shared for 46 years.
