Network Service Providers Launch Cheaper Bundles

Africa-Press – Botswana. Network Service Providers in Botswana are expected to announce revised, more affordable data bundles following a unanimous agreement with the government. The move comes after discussions aimed at reducing the cost of mobile data for consumers.

Minister of Communications and Innovation, David Tshere, confirmed that data charges have been significantly lowered, with reductions exceeding 30% in some cases. “The ministry has enabled a data reduction by over 30%. We have agreed with Mascom, Orange and BTC. BOFINET has also reduced data by 19.5%. I’m expecting the operators to announce better packages, better bundles,” Minister Tshere said.

The reductions align with the government’s digitalization strategy, which seeks to move most services online. By making data more affordable, citizens will have easier access to e-government services, digital education, and online business tools.

The minister urged consumers to expect new packages and bundles that provide better value. The changes are aimed at increasing connectivity, reducing barriers to internet access, and supporting broader economic growth through digital adoption.

This initiative reflects a coordinated effort between government and private sector operators to make digital services more accessible, ensuring that more Batswana can participate in the country’s growing digital economy.
