Saleshando Marches to ITF World Tennis Quarterfinals

Africa-Press – Botswana. Local tennis player, Seabo Saleshando is the last man standing as he advances to the quarterfinals of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J30.

Saleshando secured his spot with a hard-fought victory over South Africa’s Mbali Ndabu in a thrilling match at the National Tennis Centre in the boys’ singles on August 13.

Saleshando will face off against his close friend and doubles partner, Mooketsi Mokete, also from South Africa, in what promises to be an exciting showdown on August 14.

The last time the two met was last year, where Saleshando emerged victorious with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win.

In an interview, Saleshando said despite their friendship, he was focused on the competition. “Once we step on the court, he is just another opponent,” he said.

He added that he was prepared and confident heading into the match, stating his goal was to reach the finals.

Reflecting on his second-round match, Saleshando was pleased with his performance. “I started off very well, with minimal error and I was confident in my shots,” he explained.

Although he started the second set slowly, he was happy to find his rhythm and close out the match.

In another tournament fixture, Martin Seetso was eliminated after a tough battle against Dehan Van Deventer, a finalist in the Region 5 Games.

Seetso fought hard from the start, but Van Deventer proved to be a formidable opponent, taking the first set 6-0.

Van Deventer’s strategic play and punishing tactics ultimately led to Seetso’s defeat in the second set.
