Africa-Press – Botswana. Vice President Slumber Tsogwane on Saturday visited the Koosaletse family at Mathubapula ward, Kanye to convey his condolences.
Mr Otlaadisa Koosaletse, who was former Botswana Congress Party (BCP) president and also former Member of Parliament for Lobatse, was laid to rest in Kanye over the weekend.
Mr Tsogwane implored the family to remain steadfast in prayers for their strength during the challenging time of the tragic loss of their loved one.
He said President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi was equally saddened by the sudden death of Mr Koosaletse, who was a representative of the people.
“Mr Koosaletse was a warrior. He dedicated his life to the people, so in that regard we recognise the legacy that he leaves behind as a servant and a volunteer to the nation,” he said.
For that, he said it was befitting for the late Mr Koosaletse to be recognised by all across the political divide.
“He had dedicated his life to being the servant of the people and to working diligently for their benefit. We thank him for the time that he dedicated to the nation in deprivation of his children,” he said.
The family representative, Kgosi Tirontle Kgopo, thanked Mr Tsogwane for the visit.
He said Mr Koosaletse was seldom sick, but incurred unexpected sudden death.
We have since performed an autopsy and his death has been attributed to heart failure, he said.
He appreciated the words of condolences and encouragement from pastors and friends from different denominations, adding that Mr Tsogwane’s presence accentuated them even further.
For his part, Member of Parliament for Kanye South, Dr Lemogang Kwape thanked the Vice President for his gesture.
He appreciated President Masisi and Mr Tsogwane for doing all they could to support the bereaved families.
