Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) considered this Thursday that the Joint Commission meeting will deepen the political and technical dialogue and evaluate the implementation of the fisheries partnership agreement, which “everything indicates it’s going fine”.

According to Carla Grijó, in addition to taking stock of the situation of the different components of the agreement, from licenses and effective catches, to financial compensation, implementation of sectoral programs and monitoring and scientific research. Moreover, the EU side expects progress on the issue of visibility and “objective” campaigns of information about the agreement and how it fits into the Government’s vision of developing the Blue Economy.

“Cape Verde and the European Union are now strongly committed to the development of the Blue Economy and the joint commission will be an opportunity to discuss how the “Global Gateway” initiative can contribute to this objective”, launched by Carla Grijó.

At the Mindelo meeting, the regional program will also be presented, which the EU Delegation in Praia will manage and foresees a technical assistance unit, with the aim of allowing the countries of the region, including Cape Verde, to take decisions regarding the development of the Economy Blue based on data and scientific knowledge.
