Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the installation commission of the Portuguese Nurses Order (Ordem dos Enfermeiros) said today that valuing nurses means they should work in dignified conditions, be respected, have a dignified salary and benefit from continuous and specialised training.
José Carlos Vieira made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the workshop promoted to mark the International Nurses Day, this year celebrated under the slogan “Our nurses, our future: invest, protect, respect and value”.
“Nurses must also value themselves, empower themselves and strive to provide excellent service to those who seek health service,” he said, stressing, on the other hand, that the class, since the covid-19 pandemic, has been affirming itself for its capacity and training.
Therefore, on yet another day, he stressed in his speech the need to reflect on the role of nurses in the current situation, which forces them to go back in time and carry out an evolutionary analysis of the professional class.
