Africa-Press – Cape verde. In February 2025, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded an average change over the last twelve months of 1.5%, a value 0.3 p.p. higher. to that recorded in the previous month, as announced today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

According to the INE, in the period under analysis the CPI registered a monthly variation rate of 0.6%, a value 0.5 p.p. higher. to that recorded in the previous month.

The accumulated rate of variation of the CPI was 0.7%, a rate 1.2 p.p. higher. to that observed in the same month of the previous year.

In turn, the annual variation rate of the total CPI, in February 2025, was 2.6%, a value 0.5 p.p. higher. compared to the previous month.

“In the period under analysis, the CPI recorded an average variation of 1.5% over the last twelve months, a value 0.3 p.p. higher. to that recorded in the previous month”, says the text.

The underlying inflation indicator (total index excluding energy and fresh food) showed an annual variation of 2.3%, a value 0.3 p.p. higher. to that recorded in January 2025. The INE explains that the CPI is an indicator whose purpose is to measure the evolution over time of the prices of a set of goods and services considered representative of the consumption structure of the population residing in Cape Verde.

It is therefore not an indicator of the price level recorded between different periods, but rather an indicator of its variation.
