Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Social Development (MFIDS) requested the Ministry of Finance to carry out an audit at the National Center for Orthopedics and Physical Rehabilitation (CENORF) and the Cape Verdean Association for Disabilities (ACD), with the aim of ensuring transparency and good management of public resources allocated to these institutions.
According to a statement from MFIDS, the decision comes in the wake of recent public allegations involving both organizations.
“The Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Social Development requested the Ministry of Finance to carry out an audit at CENORF and ACD, ensuring that the principles of legality and transparency are always respected,” the Ministry wrote in a statement.
As one of the main funders of these institutions, MFIDS reinforces the importance of ensuring that funds earmarked for social inclusion are used efficiently and aligned with the proposed objectives.
It is reported that members of the Cape Verdean Association of People with Disabilities (ACD) requested an internal and external audit to analyze the financial activities and transactions carried out abroad by the current president, Bernardino Gonçalves, who also heads CENORF, accusing him of nepotism.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the international conference under the motto “Celebrating Inclusion and Overcoming”, Bernardino Gonçalves said that the audit will only serve to verify the compliance of the procedures.
