Africa-Press – Cape verde. The death toll from the rains that fell early Monday morning on the island of São Vicente has risen to nine. The latest fatality is a missing man whose body was found in Ribeira de Vinha. This information was confirmed this morning to Rádio Morabeza by health chief Elísio Silva.
Thus, eight of the victims, including four children, were killed by the floods, and another died from electrocution. There are still people missing.
The Judicial Police (PJ) reported yesterday the disappearance of Maria José Lopes Calazans, better known as Zezinha, a resident of Lombo Tanque, near the former Je T’aime nightclub.
“Her disappearance occurred following the heavy, torrential rains that hit the island early Monday morning,” it reads.
Zezinha, 45, was last seen on Sunday night at the Ribeira Bote roundabout, wearing a blue blouse and black skirt.
