Africa-Press – Cape verde. The World Bank has approved the government’s request for emergency support, equivalent to US$10 million, to strengthen the response to the damage and losses caused by the tropical wave that hit the islands of São Vicente, Santo Antão, and São Nicolau.
The confirmation was announced this Wednesday, the 13th, by Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva on his official Facebook page.
According to the head of government, the financing was made possible through the “Cabo Verde Resilient and Equitable Recovery DPF with Cat DDO” instrument, allowing for the immediate disbursement of 7.9 million Special Drawing Rights (SDRs).
Ulisses Correia e Silva thanked the World Bank Group for its swift response and strong sense of solidarity at a time that demands rapid and robust social and infrastructural emergency responses to protect people and rebuild with greater resilience.
