Africa-Press – Cape verde. Due to a computer system failure, Baptista de Sousa Hospital (HBS) in São Vicente announced today that it will reschedule all specialist appointments initially scheduled for August 11th through 14th for next week.
According to the hospital, the failure was caused by an incident registered by the national IT services provider, resulting from the heavy rains that hit the island.
The problem has not yet been resolved and continues to affect the hospital’s internal system.
The General Directorate of Registries, Notaries, and Identification also reported that, due to the torrential rains that caused flooding and damage to the computer equipment at the São Vicente Registry Offices, as well as the lack of internet connection, public services are temporarily restricted.
According to the same entity, birth and death records are being provisionally recorded in the registry books until the computerized systems are restored.
