The population representative, Otelindo Ferreira, confirmed to Inforpress that the public lighting has improved somewhat in that locality, bringing peace of mind to the residents.
Residents of different rural communities in the municipality of Porto Novo have been warning about the lack of public lighting in the interior of the municipality.
The Porto Novo Municipal Council says it is available to help the company responsible for improving public lighting in rural communities, where the situation is considered most critical.
In its investment plan for 2026, the municipality also promises, in partnership with the Energy Distribution Company of Cape Verde (EDEC), to promote LED lighting systems to reduce costs.
The problem of public lighting and the supply of electricity in the municipality of Porto Novo was recently one of the issues addressed in a meeting between the Porto Novo municipality and the Energy Distribution Company of Cape Verde (EDEC).
