Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Union of Portuguese-Speaking Capital Cities (UCCLA) and the Lisbon City Council (CML) announced this Friday, 2, the opening of the 8th edition of the UCCLA/CML-New Talents, New Works in Portuguese Language .

The announcement was made by the secretary general of UCCLA, Vítor Ramalho, at the end of the presentation of the winners of the 7th edition of the UCCLA/CML Literary Revelation Award, which took place at the Lisbon Book Fair.

“Today, we open the candidacy, UCCLA and the Lisbon City Council, which are associated with this award, for the 8th edition. This means that anyone who has an unpublished work and who wants to apply can do so, in Portuguese. The conditions are set out on the UCCLA website and, like the previous awards, this one will certainly have a highly significant participation”, said Vitor Ramalho, without advancing the closing date for registration.

7th edition of the Award

The winners of the 7th edition of the UCCLA-CML Literary Revelation Award had already been announced during the 5L-International Festival of Literature and Portuguese Language which took place in Lisbon in May.

The 7th edition of the Prize, launched on 28 August 2021, and ended in February 2022, brought together 281 applications from 15 countries, including Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as works from Asia (Japan), Africa (PALOP), Latin (Canada, USA) and Europe (Sweden, Switzerland, Slovenia).
