Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verde Men’s Basketball Team lost, this Saturday, 27, with its Angolan counterpart, by 58X65, in the second Game of the Fourth African Qualifying Window for the 2023 World Cup.
In a match for Group E, held at the “Palais des Sports”, in Treichville, in Abidjan (in Côte d’Ivoire – Côte d’Ivoire) – reports Inforpress -, which was guided by balance, Cape Verde ended the First Part in win by 36X28.
The First Period, with the Angolans always ahead of the scorer, ended with a tie (14X14), and, in the second quarter, Cape Verde was slightly superior and won by 22×14.
In the Second Half, the Angolans entered stronger and won the Third Quarter with a seven-point advantage (16X09).
At the beginning of the Last Quarter, Angola took the lead and ended up winning the match, by 65X58.
In the Opening Game of this Fourth Classification Window, held this Friday, 26th, Cape Verde beat Guinea-Conakry, by 65X48.
Thus, Cape Verde occupies the Third Position of Group E, with 10 points, four less than Angola and Ivory Coast (14 points), which share the First Position of this “Poule”.
Guinea Conakry (seven points), Nigeria (seven) and Uganda (six) occupy the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth places, respectively.
The first two classified will qualify, directly, for the World Cup and the third ranked will compete in the “Play-Off”.
The Cabo Verdean Combination ends its participation, in this Phase, this Sunday, 28, against the hosts of Ivory Coast, in a match scheduled for 19:00, at the “Palais des Sports”, in Treichville, in Abidjan.
The 2023 World Cup will have the participation of 32 teams, instead of the usual 24, and will take place between August 25 and September 10, in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines (all Asian countries).
