Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cabo Verde boxing championship, edition 2022, initially scheduled for this weekend, was postponed by the Cabo Verdean Boxing Federation (FCBB) to mid-October, in the same place, Vává Duarte sports hall, for reasons of logistical order.
The president of the FCBB justified this postponement with logistical difficulties, claiming
that the board has faced difficulties in placing athletes from all sports regions
in Praia, due to the problem with air and maritime transport.
Manuel Monteiro explained that the management prepared a plan B in consultation with the caravans in which the athletes traveled to the capital by air and returned by sea, but that he
still encountered difficulties, given the schedule of the shipping company that does not
meet of the FCBB’s claims.
The national championship, according to the schedule, will be played in practically all genders, male and female, and in different categories, that is, from 48 kg to 92 kg, with the particularity of the latter having a single boxer at this weight. , the Olympic athlete

This postponement of the national team of the modality will have an impact on the constitution of the Cape Verde team, as the competition should be used for the national champions to qualify
for the African Championship to be played in Mozambique, which, from now on, according to the leader federation, will be based on the selection that in April represented Cape Verde in the African Zone II Championship, in Sierra Leone.
However, the participation of boxers with Olympic scholarships residing in Portugal, David Pina and Nancy Moreira, is practically guaranteed, as reinforcements of the national team for the African Championship to be played from 9 to 18 September in the Mozambican capital.
