Cabo Verde national team faces Morocco in a friendly in Rabat

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cabo Verdean national football team has begun the preparatory work for the reception of Burkina Faso, on 12 May in Rabat, in a friendly match against the national team of Morocco, semi-finalist of the World Cup in Qatar’2022.

According to the president of the Cabo Verdean Football Federation (FCF), Mario Semedo, the Morocco-Cabo Verde match was the result of an invitation from the Maghreb team, so this particular match will take place six days before the match between the “Tubarões Azuis” the name by which the Cabo Verdean national team is known, and Burkina Faso, on the fifth qualifying day for the CAN’2024.

According to the federative plan, once the friendly match against the Moroccans is over, the Creole team returns to the country to continue their preparation work against Burkina Faso at the National Stadium in Achada de Sao Filipe, a match that could even dictate Cabo Verde’s qualification for the African Nations Cup (CAN), which in 2024 will be hosted by Côte d’Ivoire.

Cabo Verde ranks second in group B qualifying for CAN’2023, with seven points, which is led by Burkina Faso with 10 points (already qualified). Eswatini with three points and Togo with two, occupy the third and fourth places, respectively.
