Africa-Press – Cape verde. Three hundred families from various communities in the parish of Santo André, in the municipality of Porto Novo, remain isolated due to the destruction of the Ribeira da Cruz – Chã de Norte – Chã de Feijoal road.
The mayor of Porto Novo, Elisa Pinheiro, explained that the Ribeira da Cruz – Chã de Norte stretch “is completely destroyed” and asked for the government’s “urgent collaboration” in rebuilding this road, classified as “fundamental for supplying the population and transporting products.”
“The reconstruction of this road is crucial because it provides access to Chã de Norte and other isolated locations,” said Elisa Pinheiro, who asked the government to help the municipality quickly rebuild this road, which is “extremely important” for the entire northern part of the municipality.
In addition to Chã de Norte, the villages of Aldeia do Norte, Chã Manuelinho, Chã de Cruz, Chã Dura, and Águas das Patas are also isolated, and hundreds of families are isolated, the city government indicated.
