Desilting Ramp Enables Kriola Ship Docking

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The metal ramp at Porto Inglês, on Maio Island, has now been desilted, allowing the ship Kriola to dock, after successive obstacles caused by the accumulation of sand.

The Kriola vessel was able to successfully dock at the ramp after the clearing work was completed, thus facilitating the safer and more efficient unloading of passengers and goods.

Despite the relief generated by the reopening of the ramp, doubts remain regarding the frequency of the dredging process and the costs involved, since the phenomenon has been recurring frequently, affecting the reliability of the island’s maritime connections.

The silting of the metal ramp has been identified as one of the main obstacles to the fluidity of maritime transport on the island of Maio, causing constraints for passengers, traders and transport companies.

The ship Kriola had been docking at the concrete ramp until then, preventing it from transporting vehicles and goods.
