Africa-Press – Cape verde. Electra foresees, for the current year, a plan of “structuring investments” in the amount of 3,438,489 thousand escudos, with an impact on the increase in thermal production and in the production of renewable energies, raising the penetration rate of renewables to 18, 7%.
The forecast was unanimously approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting, held this Friday, for the approval of the 2023 Activity Plan and Budget.
This plan, according to the water and electricity production company, provides for structural investments to be made during the year, with an impact on increasing thermal production by 0.3% and an increase in renewable production by 9.4%.
In this way, the penetration rate of renewable energies should reach 18.7%.
Increased sales and reduced losses
Likewise, the company expects an increase in electricity sales of 5.0% compared to 2022, as well as a decrease in electricity losses of 2% nationally and 2.6% on the island from Santiago.
Water production should also increase by around 5.3%, with sales increasing by 9.3%, according to its forecasts.
In the water sector, the decrease in losses should be 3.4% for Electra Norte and 1.4% for Cidade da Praia.
Income with a deficit of 435,445 thousand escudos
Notwithstanding these data, Electra foresees a current deficit in its revenues of 435,445 thousand escudos, taking into account that the revenue forecasts are 13,193,492 thousand escudos, against a projected expenditure volume of 13,628,937 thousand escudos.
This, taking into account the results of Electra Norte (400,778 thousand positive escudos) and Electra Sul (825,627 thousand negative escudos).
The expected turnover for the year 2023 is budgeted at 13,041,270 thousand escudos, with a decrease of 5.8% in operating expenses compared to the previous year.

Fuel cost forecasts point to 7,788,744 thousand escudos in 2023, compared to 8,447,860 thousand escudos in 2022.
“It represents a decrease of 7.8%, justified by the projected fuel costs for the 2023 PAO being lower than those estimated for 2022, where the average prices of FO180 and FO380 used in 2022 were higher than those used in 2023”, he explains.
There was, on the other hand, an increase of 1.7% with wind energy costs.
Overall expenses with workers foresee an endowment of 1,103,821 thousand escudos, while expenses with maintenance will be 755,159 thousand escudos.
