Africa-Press – Cape verde. The free digital platform FIFA+ will broadcast the matches of the national senior women’s football championship, informs the Cape Verdean Football Federation. The competition starts today.
The confrontation between Seven Stars and Águias Vermelhas, which opens the competition, will be the first Cape Verdean women’s game to be present in the history of the platform.
It should be remembered that a large part of the men’s national championship, season 2021/22, was broadcast on this platform, which was launched this season and of which Cape Verde was the first country in Africa to sign with FIFA to broadcast its games.
Seven Stars vs Red Eagles
The national senior women’s football championship starts today at Estádio da Várzea with Seven Stars defending the title against Águias Vermelhas, from Fogo, in a game of the first round of group A.
Last Friday, the 19th, due to the withdrawal of the sports regions of São Nicolau and Santo Antão Sul, the FCF carried out a new draw for the competition, which now has six teams, when initially eight were planned.
Therefore, in the new model the teams are divided into two groups of three and the first two qualified will advance to the semi-finals.
It should be noted that Santiago Sul has two representatives in the competition, being the Seven Stars, as the title holder, and Youth United as the runner-up in the championship.
