Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of the Sea said on Thursday that the concerns expressed by the Fishing Owners Association (Apesc) are “fair and deserve depth reflection” and promised decisions to bring balance.

Abraão Vicente spoke in Mindelo at the end of a meeting with Apesc officials, at their request, to discuss “some concerns” are affecting the class of fishing owners, and was left out of the increase in the price of ice and the discharge of fish in fishing complexes, since the Minister assured that “there will be no increase”.

Among the concerns, as pointed out by the president of Apesc, João de Deus Lima, there are the construction of an ocean marina in the Onave area, “the small shipyard where the safety start and shipbuilding and repair of fishing vessels begins”, the construction of fishing ports, the management of fishing complexes and the placement by foreign vessels of Fish Concentration Devices (DCP) in international waters and which have prevented to the entry of shoals into national waters, among others.

Abraão Vicente replied that the Government is sensitive to these and other issues, to be done in dialogue, and asked the Apesc to send the Ministry suggestions for solutions, not least because the Minister proposed for the week after July 5 a meeting with the entire system of the Ministry of the Sea, in order to seek “tangible solutions”.
