Africa-Press – Cape verde. The health delegate of Tarrafal de São Nicolau, Antonio Diniz Gomes, warned this Tuesday about the increase in the number of young people with chronic diseases in the municipality, advocating the adoption of healthy lifestyles as the main preventive measure.
In an interview with Inforpress, after an “open conversation” promoted by the health department, Antonio Diniz Gomes emphasized that the practice of healthy habits and the frequent performance of examinations are essential factors in curbing the advance of these pathologies in the community.
“This initiative served, once again, to alert the community about the importance of practicing habits that contribute to improving the quality of life,” stressed the doctor.
The same source added that the Tarrafal Health Department has intensified awareness campaigns in different locations of the municipality, focusing on early diagnosis through regular screenings.
“Chronic diseases are silent and reduce the quality of life of the population, and it is in this context that we have been working, in order to reduce the rate of chronic patients in our municipality,” he warned.
As he pointed out, in recent times there has been an increase in the number of young people with chronic diseases, which, according to Antonio Diniz Gomes, is a concern for the health sector.
